Post Re: What do You consider...
In general, I consider it to be anytime someone behaves in their daily lives under the influence and inspiration of the books of Gor. That experience may have been derived directly from the books themselves, html or irc or SL online interactions, or even just encountered in our "real life" face to face as we would meet anyone else.

To what extent an individual is influenced or inspired is an entirely personal choice of course.

In my life, I am just beginning to build relationships with "RL Gorean" groups and hope to meet with them at gatherings etc. to explore how much I might be able to incorporate what I know and continue to learn how to adapt what is obviously still considered an "alternative lifestyle" by most societies into my own life choices.

As one that is thusly inspired, I tend to look online for more people of the same interests and hope to continue to develop those relationships for genuine connections. Even if they will never extend beyond the level of remote communication, online, phone, mail or whatever, I still hope to gain and make the most of the interactions we can have on a very real emotional and mental level.

Of course, this does not exclude my enjoyment and ability to appreciate and value those that are "only RPing" since it is by their participation that a complete and immersive environment can be more vitally realized and experienced, despite our individual motivations. It is simply not unlike appreciating the people that run the theater or put on the show that you go to for entertainment, whether you are a worker there, participant on stage, director, writer or a spectator. It is all part of the experience and we each get what we want out of it in a very real way.

That's a good way to put it Bella.

We can not live 100% Gorean in this modern world of ours but I do believe it's possible to incorperate many of the ideals into our own lives. If we do that then I believe we can call ourselves Gorean.

Although I do think it's important not to wonder to far from the "text". For example, I was at a Gorean outing one night where one of their slaves owned a slave of her own...and calling this arrangement a Dina. When in truth that was anything but a Gorean relationship.

Only when we read and understand the books can we call ourselves Gorean but we can teach and influence others through our words and deeds as well.

To me it is a state of mind which drives my actions and interactions with others.

I disagree that you can not live 100% Gorean lifestyle, however you can NOT act on it 100% of the time. Men have raised there hands against me whom I have not killed for instance, one must let the swords of others set there limits, or the pistols of police in this case.

I believe in the tenets of Gorean philosophy. I do believe men are naturally superior to women and should behave as such (ok libbers, have at me)

I believe in natural life, this is a bit harder to describe however. I am not talking "green" here, though I follow some of that as well, not the PC part, just the logical part. But more in what one would consider the natural order. The strong rule, the weak do as they are told

I own a slave and she lives here with me, when in the home she calls me master, if she slips and calls me "honey" or by my name she feels instant punishment, outside at the mall or what have you it is fine to speak to me that way, however, no matter where, it is with respect and deference.

In public people would think we have an old fashioned relationship.

She makes my coffee, cleans my house and fetches what ever i want, without complaint. She is slave. Does she have bad days? sure, but those are met with discipline and she tends to fall back into line. No one is perfect.

Do i care for her ? well yesterday I married her, so i would say yes. However she is still slave in this house. And in her mind, so she is outside of it as well.

hence Gor is indeed a state of mind. For me, for my slave, and I would think for many others.

I first read the books back in the 70's and have been this way since then, obviously much of it i was before the books as well, but they were an influence. One does not go from lets say a libber to a Gorean by reading a book, however if you already lean that way as I did, it is an obvious choice

Congratulations! I'm so happy for you both.
Whatever others might say or think of your choices, or how you define your lifestyle, it seems you've both found what you were searching for and that's the best thing I can wish on anyone. I wish you much joy.

I think the gorean lifestyle is often misunderstood even by those who say they practice it...

John Freddick Lange is a philosophy professor of NY University. And since he could not preach this lifestyle in class he wrote "fantasy" books instead. Basically in a nutshell a gorean lifestyyle is living naturally. Men being men and women being women, neither confused or ashamed of their gender. The books are NOT a bible but a story about a make believe world with make believe poeple who did make believe things.

But if you read closely you will see his message clearly. Don't be ashamed becuase of society's brainwashing. Live a natural life and let others as well.

extreemly well put, i totally agree, I also lean towards "off the grid" type living and hope to get 100% there eventually, another part of the "natural lifestyle"

Brilliant my former landlord (some 20 years ago) moved down to Guatemala shortly after I finished school and now lives in a cabin next to the ocean completely off grid in a natural life...I very much envy him. I am happy to meet with you here and SL as it seems to me you are a quality person.

Tal!
