Post Historical Inspirations for a Gorean Setting
I've been toying with hosting OOC discussions about our ancient culture and history. Since the entire world of Gor is drawn from ancient civilizations and cultures throughout a few ages, it might be cool to examine different topics like

-Regional/Historical Styles of Clothing
-Greek Philosophy
-Architectural Elements
-Famous Leaders
-and others...

My hope is that it would inspire us to find ways that these ideas may influence the Gorean culture, and to even incorporate what we discuss into our own characters, or possibly fashion/design in Gorean Second Life.

I sometimes wonder if there's only a teensie part of Gorean SL roleplayers who would find this interesting. I would love to host a few topics but I wouldn't want it to be a bore.

Would you dig this, or maybe recommend it to a friend if you saw something like this was going on? :?:

I would be interested in this, and other similar discussions.

Maybe not on a regular basis, but if a discussion group that met maybe once a month with a preset topic I'd come, and invite others.
Time zones are always an issue I know, and it wouldn't appeal to every one, some only like IC events not OOC events, but I'd be in. I like a nice mix of both.

This topic in particular interests me.
It would feed nicely into the questions I have about Gorean cultures viewtopic.php?f=23&t=69
and hopefully we'd see more culture incorporated in RP.

Hey, everyone knows me, if it involves talking and potentially useless information, I'm there! I like the idea of discussion groups in general, maybe once a week, but rotating topics so it isn't dull.

One interesting twist though would be how the gorean cultures differ from their earth basis, as much as how they are similar.

Ooh Yes, I like that, too! Unfortunately weeks are rarely good for me. I could do with maybe a Thursday night/ morning?

Well, I was saying once a week, doesn't matter what day really. Right now we usually have a class of some type scheduled for thursday nights at 7pm SL, the discussion group could happen then every other week, with classes on the opposite weeks.

I would enjoy that as well.

Another similar topic I have spent many an hour discussing is what Gorean cities were influenced by which civilizations?

Seems to me that Ar is Rome
Turia Constantinople
Torvaldsland...well that is obvious
Port Kar Tripoli etc.
Isle of Cos the Greek islands, perhaps even Minoan
Thentis, Switzerland gone bad....

etc.
