There are some significant, special if you will, types of roleplay that many women come to SL Gor to experience. Not all, I can’t speak for everyone, but of the girls I’ve talked to many have similar ideas in terms of slave girl RP they’d like to, or hope to, experience.


Opening or Red Silking: Not to use euphemisms, let’s just set this straight, having your virginity taken. This could be an erotic seduction, a rape, an auction, whatever the circumstances this is a significant RP to many.

First whipping: For many the experience of having a new owner whip them when they become his property, part of his household, is an important bonding moment that sets the tone of the relationship.

Collaring: It’s surprising how many actually skip this part, or let it get muddled in OOC ((ok set me as owner, chanel 1, let me change your prefix)). No matter how many times you’ve collared someone, or been collared, this is still a significant scene. Try to give it the time and effort it deserves if you can.

Branding: Most slave characters will only be branded once. It’s surprising how many have never been, where others have been many times. Each person will play it different, from loving it to hating it, but it is one of the most significant moments in a slave’s story.

Piercing: As above with branding, a very significant moment that changes the character, probably forever. Now a pierced ear girl, depending on her background and character, this could either be a high point, or extremely degrading.

Bathing, Grooming, and Feeding: Slave RP isn’t all about serving and sex and beatings, there is a tender side, an intimate side, and bathing, grooming and feeding scenes can really push both characters in new directions that they hadn’t expected. It’s not about being romantic, or boyfriend/girlfriend, the scenes of a man caring for his property, as he would wash his car or feed his dog, can be very Gorean and deepen the dynamics between the two characters.

Monthly anniversaries: I found it surprising that the books included a reference to owners celebrating the date he collared a girl each month. Men, in my own personal experiences in SL and RL, don’t seem to place as much significance as women do on dates, so I was pleased to see it mentioned. Few actually RP this out, at least not every month, but something small like feeding her from your plate and including an offhand comment about the date can really make for a memorable scene you won’t regret.

Some of these, after we’ve been RP’ing for a time, we tend to gloss over or take for granted. We’ve done it so many times we worry that it’s become cliché or boring, or that we’re playing from a script.

I’d like to encourage all slaves and their owners to not fall into the trap of thinking “been there done that” when it comes to these special types of RP, even if they are cliché, they are for a reason, because it’s part of the setting, part of the role. The challenge becomes how to make it special or unique in this pairing, under these circumstances.

Not to bash on the men, but I think some don’t realize that these are something the girls came to SL Gor to experience, or they’ve done it so many times they forget that they’ve never done it with this particular girl. Perhaps they just don’t know about these things, or when they read the books they picked out other details that are significant to them. We all get different imagery when we read the books, we all identify with different things. What stands out for a woman who comes to play a slave, may have completely slipped by the men who came to play a warrior for example.

The girls are sometimes shy or reluctant to admit they want these scenes, perhaps because they don’t want to be a burden, or ask for specific RP thinking that the owners will be bored by it.

Some other very Gorean RP that again may seem cliché or scripted or overdone that you might want to consider doing with your slave or owner and finding a way to make it uniquely your own.

Tying a bondage knot in you slaves hair, slave offering of a larma to her owner (begging for use), wearing a Talendar flower in her hair (showing she loves him), and of course… the ever elusive… sex on a tarn!

Girls, if you’ve tried some of these once and were disappointed, try it again! I do know there is nothing worse then finding just the right hair style and putting a flower in your hair and showing up to have… no one notice, but it’s worth trying again.

I’m sure there is a similar list for free women, panther girls, and men, but I’m most familiar with the slave role.

Sometimes I think about creating a new slave character in the hopes of hitting all these milestones.

The first time I was branded as Dear, the man roleplayed grabbing an iron from the fire and branding her while they were having sex. Though I wasn't very knowledgeable about the books at that point, I knew enough to not accept this roleplay. I told the guy that girls had to be held down while being branded so the mark would be clean.

It was good roleplay when Dear was first pierced, and I have no complaints about that. Dear has never been whipped when taken into a new home. In fact, she hadn't been whipped at all (in four years of rp) until recently when she was a snot to Surbus *grins*

I've only experienced one opening, but it was... *yawn* I've gone through one proper collaring. The rest, as you say, were lost in the details. That's disappointing. I've never had a Master do the "Bathing and Grooming," but plenty have fed Dear.

And I don't know of anyone who celebrates the monthly anniversaries. Isn't this amazing? So many people whine "there's nothing to roleplay!" but there are all of these roleplay opportunities that people just ignore.

Good point Dear, many of us have these experiences when we're new to RP or new to Gor and we really aren't certain what to expect. It's only later when we look back and realized we missed many of the milestones, or flubbed them due to lack of experience and we wish we could go back and have a do-over. Much like people who elope in RL, or skip their prom, 10 years later you hear them wish they could go back and do it again.

I did get to RP some of these my first time around, and they weren't too bad, especially when I hear other peoples stories.

This time around, on my new character, I've been able to experience some of these again and give them the time and importance they deserved seeing as how they will be a one time only thing for that character. I know I'm very fortunate that way and grateful to be playing with someone who has no problem spending hours on an opening.

I spoke to my RP partner about some of these scenes beforehand, either that I never had them, or that they are important to me and my character and would like to play them out even though we've both been there and done that many times.

I don't consider it cheating that some were discussed ahead of time, it's not like they were preplanned or anything. Just a small discussion so we both knew that I wanted this scene and then we let it flow from there. Learning to communicate about what I'd like to do in RP, and where I'd like my character to go, has made a signficant difference to the quality of my RP and my enjoyment of it. I worried it would dull the surprise factor, or that wow factor, but it didn't at all, it added a great anticipation to it all.

Hell no its not cheating! Ok, of course, there may be some inherent bias on my part. Seriously baby, you can say "Sacha" instead of "RP Partner", my pants have yet to explode.

I'm pretty fond of discussing major RP events, especially such milestones, beforehand so that we are all on the same page as to the purpose of the RP. Linnet and I shared what I think is probably the most significant, in my opinion, branding I've had the opportunity to experience. We both knew it was coming even if I admittedly surprised her about the timing. I'm honestly itching with excitement for her ear piercing, her first 'formal' whipping, and a whole slew of events. Its been far more rewarding and exciting because as stated, we both were experienced enough to realize how significant these events can be.

All kidding aside, yes that branding was amazing, and I too am excited for the other milestones. I guess that's why I encourage everyone to revisit these if they can, it doesn't get old the longer you've been RP'ing, you just up your game to make it that much more intense.

Markos you are one of the few guys I've seen RP'ing out some of these. Since I met you I've seen you make time for this type of RP.

I do all of those, with the exception probably of the bathing/grooming/feeding thing. If any girls had to base their survival on my remembering to feed them, I'd have to replace them every couple weeks. :p

I do think these are memorable for the slave in question, but can also be very memorable for the owner as well, if they let it. I think very often guys especially go for the 'get it done now' method of collaring, branding, and so on. Likely they are looking more toward the 'opening' I guess.

I have a somewhat standard collaring, branding, and first whipping plan, that I try to then tailor to the specific slave in question. While each time I do it the procedure is similar, it is also very different.

I still remember when I was auctioned though, one of the most difficult RP's I've ever done, I wouldn't do it again. One of those "careful what you wish for" RP's where I thought it would be amazing to get a scene like that but it was too overwhelming to even keep up with.

Its nice to see you enjoying all of these moments linnet. Although a branding is only done once. However in peircing its not just the ears the wagonspeople also peirced nose's which is fair to say, considering they are nomadic, that it is a practice that could spred.
